Optical Character Recognition (OCR)

Newky uses OCR technology to extract important data from documents such as IDs, driver's licenses, or passports. The information contained in these documents can vary based on each country's different regulations and formats. However, OCR technology can accurately read and output data regardless of the document format. This allows for data to be pulled from official documents without errors or misunderstandings, regardless of language or country. OCR typically requires artificial intelligence technologies to properly extract personal information from IDs. When people take photos of their ID documents using their smartphones or web cameras, the images may need to be realigned to remove distortion and be redirected for OCR technology to accurately extract data. Newky provides on-screen instructions to ensure that users take accurate shots on their first attempt to obtain the correct data.
